HEALTH ALERT

• Modification kits are now available from Sears, Roebuck & Co. in Chicago for the store's Model 722 bunk bed, called the Brawny. The bed's mattress and supporting underliner can fall when pushed from below, reports the Consumer Product Safety Commission. About one million beds reportedly have been sold. At least one child, a two-year-old boy from a Denver suburb, died after a 50-pound mattress landed sideways across his throat as he and his brother played beneath the bed.
