Chapters urged to pursue malpractice reform with model law

In an attempt to address one aspect of the medical liability crisis, the Academy has drafted model legislation seeking to reform the statute of limitations in medical malpractice suits. AAP President-elect Martin Smith, M.D., announced at the Chapter Chairmen's Forum last month

The model legislation, developed by the AAP Provisional Committee on Medical Liability, was distributed to chapter officials for use in proposing changes in medical liability laws on the state level.
