Wyeth awards honor chapter efforts in improving child health

Four chapters received the 1985 Wyeth Outstanding Chapter Awards during the Annual Meeting last month, while three other chapters and two individuals were honored for their work in promoting car seat belt use.

Recipient of the Wyeth award for large chapters, the New Jersey Chapter was commended for the continuing efforts of its active committees, which cover topics ranging from adolescence to insurance and bioethics to child abuse. The Chapter's involvement with governmental bodies also has made the Chapter a recognized, dominant force throughout the state. Chapter officials sit on several state panels, including committees regarding hunger, child abuse, teenage pregnancy and fetal defects. In addition, the Chapter has increased its efforts to coordinate activities with the three medical schools in New Jersey. William Van Ost, M.D., FAAP, Englewood, is Chapter chairman.
