Academy to participate in fetal alcohol syndrome awareness week

AAP Chapter officials are assisting other national medical organizations in promoting National Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Awareness Week.

Scheduled for Jan. 12-18, the awareness week is designed to educate the public about the risks that arise when pregnant women drink.

Fetal Alcohol Syndrome is the third leading cause of birth defects. Approximately two babies in 1,000 live births exhibit the syndrome.
