Adapting to change

It is a trite, but true, statement that institutions, organizations and professions which do not adapt to change are destined to disappear. Changes certainly are occurring in the organization and financing of health care in the United States.

To help the Academy adapt to these changes, the Executive Board held an all-day planning session on January 18 with the Committee on Child Health Finance. Reports on this meeting appear in the March and April "Finance Forum" columns (see p. 5, March issue; and p. X, this issue). Here are some of my thoughts on the session.
