HEALTH ALERT

• Asbestos has been detected in the lungs of infants younger than ten months, states a report in the March issue of Archives of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Researchers from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston examined 17 infants and found asbestos bodies within the lung tissue of six. The concentrations of asbestos were comparable to amounts found in some adult lung cancer patients.
