Hunger panel taps AAP talent

AAP President Robert J. Haggerty, M.D., and Fellow Irwin E Redlener, M.D., were named last month to the medical task force of USA For Africa, which sponsored the all-star musical recording of "We Are The World" to benefit famine-stricken Ethiopians.

One of three boards authorized to oversee the distribution of nearly $35 million raised for famine relief, the medical task force will consider immediate and long-term health care needs in Africa. The panel, chaired by Dr. Redlener, a professor at State University of New York in Syracuse, will meet at least twice each year.
