What reactions do pediatricians have when they are named in medical-liability suits? The first reaction generally is anger. We feel we have provided the best possible care for the patient, and are upset that they would sue. Some physicians might even be tempted to call the patient, or their attorney to "clarify" the situation, assuming the patient will then drop the suit. Whatever you do, don't do that! It never works, and talking directly to the plaintiff's attorney, without your lawyer present, is a sure way to harm your case.
