Congressional committees OK child-health provisions

DEPARTMENT OF GOVERNMENT LIAISON

The Senate Finance Committee passed a health care reform amendment, July 1, that seeks to expand the number of children and pregnant women with health insurance.

Under the plan, beginning in January 1996, subsidies to help pay insurance premiums would be available for children and pregnant women in families with incomes up to 240 percent of the federal poverty level (FPL).
