Physicians should use a checklist method for identifying cases of nonaccidental burns in children, a Denver study showed. Researchers assessed the number of suspected burn abuse cases referred to social services before and after implementation of a 13-item checklist given to physicians to help identify burn abuse. Subjects were 105 burn patients seen in the emergency department of The Children's Hospital of Denver.
