Chapter Forum — 20 years and growing

Daniel Broughton M.D., FAAP

The Annual Chapter Forum — one of the most important AAP events — was held at the Westin O'Hare in Chicago, Sept. 12-14. Started 20 years ago as a grassroots effort to improve communication with the national AAP leadership, the Forum is made up of chapter presidents and vice presidents from throughout the United States and Canada. The AAP Board of Directors and other District officers, including Alternate District Chairs, the National Nominating Committee, chapter staff and AAP staff attend the meeting in a nonvoting capacity.

This year, two of the founders of the Annual Chapter Forum (then called the Chapter Chairmen's Forum), Byron Oberst, M.D., and William Conkling, M.D., were honored for their vision in establishing this vital link between members and the Academy leadership.
