A new insulin analog could outperform regular insulin for treating certain pediatric patients with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM), according to a New York review. The new analog lispro, (Humalog®), could improve lifestyles and compliance in patients who are picky or erratic eaters. This new insulin peaks at the same time as absorption of the meal so patients can eat immediately after an injection, the review stated.
