SSI regulations unveiled

Federal officials estimate that 135,000 of the 965,000 children receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI) cash assistance will no longer be eligible for benefits due to Feb. 6 regulations issued by the Clinton administration.

The AAP Committee on Children with Disabilities plans to thoroughly review the regulations and provide comments to the administration. "We are very concerned with the impact these regulations will have on our patients," AAP Committee on Children with Disabilities Chair Philip R. Ziring, M.D., said.
