Pediatrician to head new EPA office

Philip Landrigan, M.D., FAAP, will head the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) new office on children's health. Its mission will reflect one of the agency's highest priorities: protecting the health of children from environmental threats.

The Office of Children's Health Protection will carry out the agenda from the EPA's 1996 report, "Environmental Health Threats to Children." The report addresses many complex threats to children's health, such as air pollution that exacerbates asthma and toxic chemicals that can lead to serious health problems.
