Research has shown that some media can be a public health risk factor to children and adolescents. The images and messages mass media convey can result in aggressive and/or risk-taking behavior. Media messages, both direct and indirect, can lead to other negative attitudes about sexuality, nutrition, self-concept and identity, as well as use of tobacco, alcohol, and illicit drugs among young people.
