Latest AAP efforts fortify pediatricians' image

Robert E. Hannemann M.D., FAAP

Dear Colleagues:

My thanks and appreciation go out to all who made the Spring Session such a success. I am very proud of the Academy's ability to orchestrate such interesting, useful and entertaining meetings.

That meeting came as one in a series of successes for the Academy. Those successes include the day of April 16th, on which I, as president, testified in front of a congressional subcommittee, spoke at a news conference held by First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton, and met President Clinton in the Oval Office.

The Academy's reputation for credibility and expertise opened the door to that day for me and to the White House Conference on Early Childhood Development and Learning, which took place the following day. I have each of you to thank for that reputation.
