Adolescent patients do not always receive confidential care from physicians, new research shows. In a study to determine how often parents were invited to leave the room during a visit with an adolescent patient, researchers questioned 1,630 pediatricians, internists and family practitioners in a large metropolitan area in Texas. Physicians responded using a five-point scale: never, rarely, sometimes, almost always and always. Researchers recorded the never, rarely and sometimes responses as "no" and the almost always or always responses as "yes."
