Managed care's link to malpractie premiums warrants further study

Among the common questions most pediatricians ask about their medical malpractice premiums is how rates are determined. One factor of particular interest is the role that managed care might play.

To date, managed care insurance plan practices have been cited in numerous cases as causes of action in physician malpractice claims. The most common practices targeted are referral procedures and physician incentive arrangements that allegedly limit patient access to medically appropriate health care.
