AAP members are taking center stage in national and local media as advocates for child health and safety.

• Violence prevention was the topic of a May 5 USA Today letter-to-the-editor from Joseph Zanga, M.D., FAAP, president-elect.

• Bicycle, skateboard and in-line skate safety were the subjects when Mark Widome, M.D., FAAP, appeared May 13 and May 14 on NBC-TV's "Today Show." Since September, Dr. Widome has appeared 11 times on "Today" to discuss injury and illness prevention.

• An article on television ratings drew a response from Robert Hannemann, M.D., FAAP, in the Chicago Tribune's May 28 letters to the editor.

In addition, since the beginning of the year, more than eight letters to the editor on behalf of the Academy have been forwarded to various newspapers and magazines in response to articles or timely issues.
