New `Medicaid State Reports' helpful in advocacy

AAP Division of Health Policy Research

A helpful advocacy tool, "Medicaid State Reports, Fiscal Year 1995," is available from the AAP Division of Health Policy Research.

Complete sets of the reports cover the 50 states and the District of Columbia and cost $25. Reports for single states are free. To order, phone Terri Schnell at (800) 433-9016, ext. 7627.

The reports profile Medicaid at the state, regional and national levels.

Advocates, policymakers and researchers can use the reports to compare Medicaid data in their state to statistics for other states.

The reports include the following information:

children's health status, such as infant mortality rates, low birth weight, and prenatal care;

• Medicaid recipient and expenditure data (i.e., the percentage of Medicaid-paid births, recipients and expenditures by age and eligibility category, and service utilization and cost); and

• Medicaid program characteristics, including the most recent legislative changes in each state.
