Future pediatricians are being prepared to be the voice for children through two pediatric child advocacy training programs. The Community Oriented Advocacy Training (COAT) program was made possible through a Community Access to Child Health (CATCH) planning grant, awarded by the Academy and funded by Wyeth-Ayerst Laboratories. Ann Botash, M.D., FAAP, associate professor of pediatrics at State University of New York, established the program with three goals in mind:
