4% plan offers all children access to health coverage

The Academy is lending its technical expertise to Congress in the form of a proposal, which, for the first time in U.S. history, would offer health care coverage to all children.

Concerned about the potential for misuse of allocated funds and inspired by the opportunity to improve children's quality of life, AAP health policy experts unveiled a plan that would provide 3.5 million previously uninsured children access to health care coverage through a combination of federal and beneficiary funding. The AAP plan covers twice as many children as the Senate proposal, using the same budgeted tax dollars.
