Friends of Children helps patients, community, education

Robert E. Hannemann M.D., FAAP

Dear colleagues:

As you may know, membership dues account for only 25 percent of the Academy's income. That means donations undewrite programs that might not be possible without philanthropic support.

And so I thank you for your generosity to last year's Friends of Children Fund annual campaign.

Contributions to the campaign totaled more than $310,000, an 8 percent increase over last year.

That money will help the Academy do great things for children and for the profession of pediatrics. But keep in mind, $310,000 accounts for about I percent of the Academy's income. Imagine how many more children we could help if we increased that percentage.
