Payoff 'enormous': Begin anti-drug talks early, McCaffrey says

Looking to encourage pediatric involvement in the federal drug abuse prevention strategy, U.S. "Drug Czar" Gen. Barry McCaffrey delivered a stirring keynote address at the 1997 Annual Meeting in New Orleans.

McCaffrey, director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), called on "respected" and "influential" pediatricians to communicate the agency's drug abuse prevention messages to patients and to their communities.
