`Detours' add insight to year on the road: One term ends, another begins as presidents pass leadership baton

Journeys and quests.

The current and former presidents of the Academy used these words to describe their accomplishments and goals, cognizant of the challenges of the presidential year, acknowledging that their agenda for the Academy is a work in progress.

At the November 1997 Annual Meeting in New Orleans, Robert Hannemann, M.D., FAAP, immediate past president, passed the leadership badge to Joseph Zanga, M.D., FAAP incoming president. It was a moment for warm words and high expectations.
