Alcohol use among minorities

Minority youths living in public housing were more likely to use alcohol if their friends and family members drank, if they believed alcohol advertising claims and if they got into trouble within the past month, a study of 624 New York seventh-graders found.

Although a growing body of research suggests an association between residence in low-income, urban housing developments and increased risk for delinquency and alcohol use among adolescents, few studies included minority participants.
