Most pediatricians are offering the varicella vaccine to their patients, although the rate varies by several practice characteristics, according to a recent AAP Periodic Survey of Fellows. According to data from Periodic Survey #35, 69 percent of pediatricians report they offer the varicella vaccine to "all or nearly all" of their patients ages 12 to 18 months, 14 percent provide to "some," and 17 percent to "few or none." Of those interviewed who are not currently offering the vaccine, 23 percent plan to offer the vaccine in the near future.
