The health care industry is inundated with articles, seminars and "how-to" packages on instituting compliance programs. These programs have been used in businesses for years to help ensure compliance with applicable government regulations. Their current popularity in the health care field is fueled by the labyrinth of regulations surrounding the industry. These include regulations from the Health Care Financing Administration, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments and the Office of Civil Rights, just to mention a few.
