A new national initiative is requiring federal agencies to use creative methods to search for children who are eligible for government-paid health care. The plan includes the unprecedented involvement of the Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Treasury Department in working to insure children. "It is critical that we tap into all the resources of the federal government by asking ... agencies that have direct and indirect contact with parents and children to mobilize in this effort," said Chris Jennings, the White House's main health policy adviser.
