Academy busy as SCHIP becomes reality

Academy leaders continue to formulate strategy for the 10-year, $48 billion State Child Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), Title XXI, with everything from performance measures to policy statements under consideration.

Several AAP leaders met Dec. 9 to discuss how the Academy can help states implement SCHIP, approved in September as part of the Balanced Budget Act of 1997.

Attending were Executive Committee members and representatives from the Committee on State Government Affairs, the Committee on Child Health Finance, the Council on Government Affairs and key staff members.
