Vice presidential election 1998: Advocacy, health care access top candidates' priority list

The Academy's new Mission Statement declares that "The mission of the AAP is to attain optimal physical, mental, and social health and well being for all infants, children, and young adults." It further states that "we will accomplish this mission by addressing the needs of children, their families, and their communities and by supporting Academy members through advocacy, education, research, service, and by improving the systems through which they deliver pediatric care."
