Administration throws weight behind child care

President Clinton recently announced what he described as the single largest child care package in the history of this country. Clinton proposed a major spending commitment of $21.7 billion over five years to improve the affordability, availability, quality and safety of child care. The president made this announcement Jan. 7, in front of an audience of child advocates including AAP Immediate Past President Robert Hannemann, M.D., and AAP Board member Susan Aronson, M.D.
