SIDS update: Quilts and SIDS

Quilts and duvets (comforters) can increase SIDS risk in babies under I year of age, according to a recent report.

Researchers at the University of Tasmania investigated 100 SIDS deaths. Results showed the use of a quilt increases SIDS risk, particularly in infants over 16 weeks of age sleeping in the supine position who can pull the quilts over their heads and obstruct their breathing.
