Knowing junior high students are at highest risk for first tobacco use, AAP members nationwide have been going back to school in record numbers to stop smoking before it starts. 'As far as I'm concerned, all pre-adolescents have this problem, that they are at high risk of smoking, of being influenced by their friends," said Wyndolyn C. Bell, M.D., FAAP, of Dunwoody, Ga. "It only takes five minutes with one of your good buddies to change five years of parental messages."
