The teaching of pediatric residents in the care of acutely ill and injured patients varies widely depending on residency program size and the presence of a pediatric emergency medicine (PEM) fellowship trainig program, according to a nationwide survey of pediatric residency program directors. The research, conducted by investigators at Children's Memorial Hospital, Chicago, was aimed at identifying how pediatric residents are being taught to care for acutely ill and injured children.
