Breastfed infants had higher plasma total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol than formula-fed infants at 1 and 4 months old, Italian researchers stated. Subjects were 19 infants in the formulafed (FF) group and 19 infants in the breastfed (BF) group, followed up until 12 months of age. Body weight was determined with an electric scale. Cord blood samples were taken at birth.
