Child, adult research partnerships encouraged

As the Oct. 1 deadline looms for mandatory inclusion of children in all National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded research proposals, pediatric researchers are being encouraged to reach out to their adult medicine counterparts to join their investigative teams.

"I'm encouraging pediatricians to be proactive and make the first move. Let the adult medicine folks know that we're aware of this and we are eager to cooperate with them," asserted Duane Alexander, M.D., FAAP, director, National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD).
