From a Jonesboro, Ark., emergency room to a Richmond, Va., prison, pediatricians increasingly find themselves treating the physical and psychological wounds of children caught in the crossfire of cultural change, according to AAP officials and featured speakers at the 1998 Spring Session in Atlanta. Approximately 2,800 attendees, including 1,452 health professionals, participated in the April 4-7 conference. Many educational sessions were taught by faculty from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, headquartered in Atlanta. In addition, Donna O'Hare, M.D., FAAP, received the Abraham Jacobi Memorial Award, a joint Academy and American Medical Association award. (See photo, page 8.)
