The direction and the speed of transition from metered dose inhalers (MDIs) containing chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) to non-CFC asthma medications has stirred debate among congressional leaders, physicians and patient advocacy groups. Pediatricians' greater under standing of the issue and proper education of parents and patients can help allay concerns about the CFC phase-out and acceptability of non-CFC asthma therapies.
