15 pediatric organizations respond on FOPE II 'hot topics'

As the Future of Pediatric Education II project (FOPE II) prepares to draft its final report, the Task Force on the Future of Pediatric Education continues to solicit pediatric community input. Now in the final year of a three-year initiative launched by the pediatric community in May 1996, FOPE II is charged with looking at what education is needed to develop and maintain a pediatric workforce to meet children's health care needs in the next millennium.

In January 1998, the task force identified a list of "hot topics," which it coupled with specific questions and issues to determine pediatric organizations' policies on issues relating to the scope of pediatric practice in the future, referrals and pediatric education. Representatives from 15 pediatric organizations responded.
