Untreated early childhood caries may slow children's growth, according to researchers who studied 94 youngsters. It has been hypothesized that pain and infection caused by dental caries change eating and sleeping patterns, leading to slowed growth, according to the authors. They looked at whether dental rehabilitation increased percentile weight and percentile growth velocity in children with early childhood caries.
