Hughes named acting director

Gerald E. Hughes, M.D., has been named acting director of the AAP Department of Education.

Dr. Hughes is taking over responsibility for the department from Robert Prentice, M.D., who has now assumed full time duties as associate executive director. Dr. Hughes will serve until the national search for a new director is completed.

Since February 1985, Dr. Hughes has served as director of the Office of the International Congress of Pediatrics. He joined the Academy in 1967 as director of continuing medical education activities and served as acting director for the Department of Education from 1983 to 1985.
