Social worker helps broaden scope of pediatric services

Four years ago, Thomas F. Tonniges, M.D., FAAP, decided to do more to treat his patients and their families as a whole. He hired a social worker.

"I was by myself and I was extremely busy," Dr. Tonniges said, "I just wanted something better for my patients."

Today, Dr. Tonniges has two partners in his practice in Hastings, Neb., a town of about 25,000. The social worker he hired, Charlene Turner, is an integral part of that practice.
