Joint survey to measure ICRC growth

In an ongoing effort to gauge the growth of Infant Care Review Committees (ICRCs), the Academy and the University of Connecticut Health Center are surveying 900 pediatric department chairmen at hospitals likely to encounter Baby Doe situations.

The study, titled "National Collaborative Survey of Infant Care Review Committees," focuses on the development of ICRCs and other measures taken by hospitals to make decisions on the care of critically ill or handicapped newborns, said Gretchen Fleming, director of the AAP Department of Research. It is funded by the National Institute for Handicapped Research.
