Model cities program launched to boost U.S. awareness

In Los Angeles, the Public Health Department will attempt to immunize 20,000 area children in one week, providing free passes to the Los Angeles County Zoo for those who take part in the drive.

In Atlanta, workers are collecting 20,000 children's handprints from around the city to post at a local park.

In Minneapolis, a bank has donated 20,000 pennies for a public display.

It's all part of an effort by cities taking part in UNICEF's "Campaign for Child Survival" to illustrate how many children's lives could be saved each day through simple, inexpensive techniques.
