Child care center at chapter meeting designed as model program

AAP Pennsylvania Chapter officials have organized a child care program for their annual meeting this month that will enable pediatricians and their spouses to observe how a model day care program operates.

Chapter Chairman Susan Aronson, M.D., said pediatricians will be able to observe the child care center without disrupting the center's activities.

The model program is designed to provide a "first-hand understanding of what day care should be like," she said, noting that pediatricians must fight impressions that day care centers are nothing but "child warehouses."
