Florida mandates insurance coverage for preventive care

Florida has become the first state to mandate full, first-dollar coverage for children's preventive care under all group or individual insurance plans.

In recent years, pediatricians in a handful of other states have tried to push through similar legislation; however, their efforts have been thwarted by the considerable opposition rallied by the insurance industry and small business.
