First aid chart gives advice on treating childhood injuries

A newly revised Academy chart can help parents correctly treat the bruises, scrapes, chipped teeth, nosebleeds and other injuries common to children.

"First Aid," an 11-by-17-inch cardboard chart, gives practical advice for the following injuries: skin wounds, burns and scalds, fractures, sprains, tooth and eye injuries, nosebleeds, fainting, head injuries, convulsions, chocking and breathing difficulties.

The catagory on choking shows how to rescue a child under one year old. It also includes a step-by-step explanation of a version of the Heimlich maneuver adapted for children more than one year old.
