Taking care of business

Members of the AMA House of Delegates conduct a "standing vote" during the delegates' June 15-19 meeting in Chicago. During the meeting, the Section Council on Pediatrics met with the Section Council on Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the executive committees of both the Academy and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. "Fruitful discussions focused on the joint problems related to high risk care of low birth weight infants and the liability crisis," reports Calvin Sla, M.D., FAAP, chairman of the Section Council on Pediatrics. Throughout the meeting, more than 200 reports and resolutions were discussed. "Overall, the meeting presented an excellent forum for discussion on many subjects," Dr. Sia said.
