Pediatricians encouraged to join in `Art for Kids Sake'

The Academy has joined the Child Welfare League of America (CWLA) in a unique effort to increase the public's awareness about the serious, but often-ignored, child health issues facing pediatricians and direct care agencies across the nation.

The "Art for Kids' Sake" campaign, developed by the CWLA and co-sponsored by the Academy, has enlisted the help of 80 of the nation's most popular cartoon artists to achieve its goal: establishing child health as a top priority in the United States.

"Through the gentle and entertaining format of cartoon art we are trying to remind people of just how important child health issues are," Phil Lerner, CWLA consultant for external affairs, told AAP News.
